🌍 Protect the Flower We Wait 12 Years to See
🌸 Kurinji Flower — A Rare Wonder of the Western Ghats 💜🌿
The Kurinji flower (குறிஞ்சி பூ), also known as Neelakurinji, is one of the remarkable treasures of the Western Ghats. Its scientific name is Strobilanthes kunthiana.
💜 One of its most fascinating features is its flowering cycle. In suitable populations, it can bloom spectacularly once every 12 years, covering hillsides with beautiful purple-blue flowers.
🌄 The last major flowering was seen in 2018 in several famous locations. If the 12-year cycle continues in those locations, the next major bloom is expected around 2030.
This rare flowering reminds us that nature has its own rhythm and that protecting the forests and grasslands where Kurinji grows is essential.
🌱 A flower we may see only once in 12 years deserves a habitat we protect every year.
